The BlueHalo Labs Sector Senior Engineering Manager is a key company leadership position. The Senior Engineering Manager is expected to lead, supervise, and mentor members of BlueHalo’s technical staff, manage staffing in support of various efforts, and help refine and improve engineering processes and process adoption. The Senior Engineering manager is expected to help drive technical excellence for all programs and internal technical investments and may participate in technical reviews for all major programs. This role is responsible for defining and updating BlueHalo’s engineering processes and practices collaboratively with sector and division engineers in addition to implementing appropriate training plans for the engineering team. This role will ensure conformance with all engineering processes and practices in coordination with BlueHalo’s Quality Management leadership.
The Senior Engineering Manager must be a proven and effective leader who drives effective execution and technical integrity in all BlueHalo programs. The Senior Engineering Manager is expected to be broadly informed and able to quickly grasp current technologies demanded by BlueHalo’s programs and the engineering best practices in our industry.
The Snior Engineering Manager coordinates directly with BlueHalo’s Senior Director of PMO and Division/Product Leads for projected personnel resource needs and for resource assignments to programs consistent with Company priorities. The Senior Engineering Manager must prioritize technical activities to achieve BlueHalo’s business objectives. This position reports to the SVP, Labs COE or the Director of Systems Engineering.

• Lead and supervise BlueHalo’s Engineering Technical Process & Support members, and collaborate with Product Engineering Leads, PMO, and Division/Product Leads.
• Support/Oversee an end-to-end recruiting and staffing campaign to build a high-performing teams across all key engineering disciplines in collaboration with BlueHalo talent acquisition, Division/Product Leads, Engineering Group leads, and Program Managers.
• Work with the Division/Product Leads and Program Managers on staff forecasting to ensure technical resources are available to meet all Company program requirements.
• Responsible for tailoring, executing, maintaining, and improving engineering processes necessary to meet company goals.
• In coordination with the Quality Manager and the Director PMO, ensure inculcation of and compliance with engineering and management policies, processes, and procedures.
• In support of the Division/Product Leads, the Program Managers, the Quality Manager, and the Engineering Group Leads, ensure training and processes are in place to support excellent technical execution of programs, and establish and support analysis of technical performance metrics to corporate leadership.
• Coordinate/Support Company investments in engineering tools and use licenses, and ensure excellence for technical staff professional development plans.
• In support of Division/Product Leads, coordinate resources as required for internal research and development (IR&D) project planning to ensure long-range Company strategic goals are achieved.
• Support program and proposal technical reviews (Portfolio Reviews; PMRs; Proposal and IRAD Reviews) in collaboration with the Director of PMO and the Director of Systems Engineering.
• Assess technical risks of programs, track mitigation plans for risks, and advise program managers.
• Make technical and staffing decisions that promote overall corporate goals for rate management, profit generation, and strategic planning.
• Lead training to support technical implementation and assessments in support of BlueHalo’s export control processes.

The Senior Manager of Engineering is expected to possess excellent supervising and management skills with a high degree of technical cross-disciplinary domain knowledge coupled with emotional intelligence.

• Master’s degree in engineering and 15+ years engineering experience total with 5 years technical management experience; or MBA and 5+ years engineering experience with 15+ years technical management/leadership experience.
• Extensive supervisory experience of technical staff and proven ability to mentor junior technical staff.
• Expertise with engineering processes, tools, and best practices across our industrial sector, and expert in “right sizing” processes and procedures to Company needs
• Knowledge of systems engineering methods and tools
• Export control knowledgeable
• Action-oriented
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Eligible for or current U.S. DoD Secret security clearance

   

  Work Environment

  This job operates in a professional office environment.  This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and other equipment as needed.

  Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  This is a full-time, exempt position.  Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This position may require extended daily work hours and weekends.
