You’d like to do this

We are looking for a self-motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with a passion for FPGA design and implementation to join our growing team.  In this role you will perform DSP FPGA design and implementation on high priority projects in the nxtRF division, perform FPGA tests, and deliver custom solutions in the field of software defined radios, radar, navigation, and sensors. You will work on cutting edge RF systems including phased arrays, telemetry, radar systems & custom comms waveforms.

 

We have numerous active research and development projects where we design, integrate, test, and deploy systems for a range of applications, including wireless communications, ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), localization, and time transfer. The immediate need is for a high priority project dealing with software-defined radios and signal processing, with future opportunity to work in many different areas as desired.

 

CITIZENSHIP & CLEARANCE

 

  • We can only accept applicants that are US Citizens
  • Develop FPGA architecture/protocol/firmware to exchange control/data between ARM and FPGA
  • Ensure delivered solution fully meets requirements through a deep underst
  • anding of signal processing requirements
  • Implement DSP algorithms on FPGA using Xilinx toolset
  • Utilize and/or modify existing code bases and libraries; create and shape new functionality
  • Write test plans to demonstrate the device meets requirements in field testing

 

EDUCATION

 

  • Minimum education is a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • At least 3-to-5 years of implementing DSP on FPGA and demonstrated success in delivering developed solutions.

 


 

You’re required to have this

  • Implement Software Defined Radio functions on FPGA.
  • FPGA RTL and verification, embedded real-time software/firmware, board bring-up and board support packages, digital signal processing.
  • Write clean, efficient, well-documented code.  Perform code reviews and document them.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Hardware Description Languages: VHDL, Verilog
  • Development Tools: Xilinx Vivado, Xilinx SDx, ModelSim, Matlab.
  • Experience using test equipment such as Logic Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and Power measurement.

 

DESIRED SKILLS

 

  • An active (or active within the last 2 years) Secret (or higher) level of DoD security clearance.
  • Familiar with DOD-AIMS requirements.
  • Implementing DSP functionality in a Xilinx FPGA using Vivado. 
  • Authoring system requirements, design documents, and technical reports.
  • 10+ years of FPGA development experience and demonstrated success in delivering developed solutions.
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Expert knowledge in digital communication theory.
  • Expert knowledge in digital signal processing algorithms.
  • Platforms: Xilinx FPGA/SoC, and Micro-Semi SmartFusion.
  • Inter-system communication over Ethernet, Serial Interface.
  • Familiarity with encryption, decryption, and secure applications.
  • Integration with common external interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART.
  • Debugging prototype FPGA hardware using software design tools and lab instruments.
  • Development tools: GCC Toolset, Yocto, Intel/Altera Quartus.
  • Conducting board-level digital/analog/RF/power circuit design, generating schematics.
