Responsibilities

OVERVIEW: Embedded Systems Engineer (CLEARED)

 

BlueHalo is seeking embedded systems engineers for mid-level positions in the Integrated Solutions Division. In this role, you will be designing, implementing, and testing embedded software code in support of several ongoing product development activities. The Integration Solutions Division is a dynamic and fast-paced integrated working environment, with mechanical, electrical, and software engineers working closely together to rapidly develop products that meet customer needs.

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Embedded system engineering in support of ongoing product development activities
  • Designing and implementing software on embedded systems, from requirements through production
  • Interfacing with hardware and software design and development activities

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Active Security Clearance: Secret or Top Secret
  • 2+ years’ experience with embedded system development
  • Strong programming skills in C (and C++)
  • Proficient at debugging low level code
  • Experience in selecting, interfacing and writing code for low level hardware and sensors
  • Adequate knowledge to read schematics and work with basic lab test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Logic analyzers and other test equipment
  • “Bare metal” and device driver programming experience
  • Familiarity with ARM architectures, preferably STMicroelectronics 32-bit microcontrollers
  • Familiarity with serial interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, USB, CAN, etc.
  • Ability to gather requirements and generate design documentation
  • Skilled at expressing ideas using words and graphics
  • Familiarity with version control workflows (Git, gitlab, github, etc.)

DESIRED SKILLS

 

  • Experience in design/implementation of an entire embedded system
  • Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS’s) and/or embedded multi-tasking OS’s. e.g., FreeRTOS, μC/OS-II
  • Familiarity with CMake and GNU Compiler
  • Experience with Java, C#, Python
  • Familiarity with open source hardware such as Raspberry Pi, Beagle Board, etc.
  • Experience with low-power wireless protocols, general RF and/or acoustics concepts
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle development and management
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools and techniques

EDUCATION

  • BS degree (or higher) in electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field
