Responsibilities

BlueHalo, has exciting opportunities on our prime contracts to Make the Mission Happen.
We are looking for an experienced RF design engineer to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team. The candidate will work across programs on design and development of operational prototypes for various communications, sensor, and other electromagnetic systems and components. Candidate will provide technical expertise in system solutions for a small team in the design, development, integration, and test of operational prototypes. Specifically, we are looking for someone with experience in:
 
 ·       Microwave antenna design and concept development, prototyping and fabrication, evaluation, and measurement, for enclosures with challenging space constraints and project requirements. Experience with design of electrically small antennas a plus. 
·       EMI/EMC in telecommunications and consumer electronics, co-site RF interference (RFI), interference detection and mitigation with existing radiators
·       Simulation, synthesis, and analysis for circuit-, chip-, and board-level analog design problems, including hands on debugging and troubleshooting
·       Experience with EE CAD tools including field-solvers, synthesis, and layout such as ADS, Altium, OrCAD, HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, Genesys

Qualifications

    • TS/SCI w/Poly
    • BSEE (or related) plus minimum of 8 to 10 years applicable experience
    • Specialized RF design experience in SWaP-constrainedembedded RF systems, fundamental understanding of amplifier design, familiarity with cellular and Wi-Fi technology, experience in design, measurement, and selection of antennas for multifunctional systems, RF propagation and RF test equipment.
    • Enthusiastic self-starter who can tackle engineering challenges using outside of the box thinking
    • Not afraid to ask questions, or challenge design decisions to improve overall design and outcome of projects and tasks
    • Works well with teams, and possesses good written and oral communications skills

Desired Skills and Knowledge:

    • Schematic capture and board layout of RF circuits using Altium Designer
    • Working knowledge of RF board fabrication design guidelines
    • Familiarity with telecommunications standards, physical and protocol layers of wireless systems, including cellular (GSM, WCDMA and LTE), WLAN and Bluetooth, low power WPAN (Zigbee, LoRa, 802.15.4), SATCOM (GPS, Iridium, other LEO/MEO)
    • Hands on experience with wireless test and measurement equipment including network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, multimeters, and oscilloscopes
    • RF propagation and link budgeting in urban and indoor environments
    • Commercially available RF components, including filters, oscillators, amplifiers, switches, mixers, limiters, and software-defined-radios (SDRs)
